What a shop!

They took us in quickly when our fuel pump died while visiting Portland. The guy at Sears Automotive actually referred us to them; especially since we had a VW. They were friendly and took care of the work in a reasonable time. We got a ride to some shops as well, to pass the time!

The 2nd/3rd time we used them, we asked them to replace parts that were diagnosed by another shop. We made time in another visit to Portland to make sure this shop could work on our car. Not only did they beat their prices by huge amounts, but when the realized the problem was misdiagnosed and related to another issue, they wouldn't even charge us for the work and parts. What a shop!

Carrie at the front desk is smart as a whip and takes care of you. Great shop, I only wish they were in Seattle, where I actually live.

 Honest. Competent. Great value!

My '92 Golf is like new!

In these difficult economic times, I questioned, once it was apparent that I had a blown head gasket on my '92 Golf, whether I should replace parts/repair my beloved Lil Golfie or just throw in the towel, bite the bullet and go look for a new/used VW to get me back on the road to work and back everyday. My son, Ian, has worked for Double J and we swear by their work and their obvious love and interest in V-dubs. I could easily spend 4-5K on a newer used VW so, after talking about the costs of replacing the head gasket and deciding that, while in the process, to replace other hard to get to parts, we went for the repair.

After a week and a half at "Dr Double J's" I am the proud owner of a '92 Golf that is just about like new! They did some awesome work, for a really fair price and even did some repairs/replacements that they did not charge fully for. My aging little Golf is running like a new car and has some awesome improvements in performance, gas mileage, etc.

The crew at Double J are the best. Caring and conscientious--they really know how to care for VWs and do a great job doing it too.

I'll never take my little Golf ANYWHERE else--and neither should you!

Glad I found 'em.

After calling several shops for a quote on a timing belt change, Double J was one the lowest, and had some of the best reviews online. I also had a co-worker recommend them so I decided to give them a shot. It was easy and a comfortable experience, and they really went above what they had to do. I had a few bolts missing from the skid plate after my wife re-designed the front of our passat. Even though it doesn't sound like much, they replaced them for free, and they also told me about open re-calls from VW on our car. They didn't have to do that either. Just those small touches have made another lifelong customer. If you're tired of the dealer run-arounds, lying or cheating mechanics, then go to Double J. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

They are crazy...crazy good
I have been seeing these guys for years, and of course the DJM lady too.  They are always honest, dependable, and always priced very well.  This last visit was absolutely amazing again, I went in for a simple speedometer fix and they made sure to look over and reconnect anything suspicious.  They found a boost leak and I left with more power than ever. They are ENTHUSIASTS that will help in everyway possible!  So glad I found them.

Saving the day on an on the road breakdown

August 1st I bought my cousin's '93 Audi 90 and flew up from Southern California to bring it home.  I had a shop in Renton where my cousin lives replace the timing belt, serpentine, water pump, heater core and all the ancillary tensioners etc..   Before leaving Renton my cousin and I replaced the front rotors and pads, the ISV and threw an oil change at it for good measure.   I did NOT want to break down on the way home.

I did anyway.  I stopped for lunch in  Vancouver, and the car would not start afterward.  A quick internet search of available repair shops yielded Double J and the posts here all had nice things to say.  I called and they cleared a lift for me and recommended what turned out to be a very good tow truck operator.  The car was in their care by 2:00 pm and Joe quickly diagnosed a failed crank position sensor.  He also caught that in my ham fisted parking lot troubleshooting I had bent over a pin on the ISV connection, something he easily corrected.  The other part was installed by around 5:00pm but the car would still not start.

Now, here is where Double J went well above and beyond the call of duty.  I was trying to be thrify with this little adventure, arranging my trip to spend nights with friends.   Joe looked up some local hotels, rejected my first choice (cheap) because the neighborhood was dodgy, and negotiated a Motel-6 price at a really nice hotel nearby.  I cannot say enough times how grateful I am for that.  He even drove me to the hotel!

Next morning, they still could not get my poor car to start. Hey cuz, thanks!  Well, after much troubleshooting and even calling over a tech friend from a local Audi dealer on his lunch break (he has friends that do this, amazing) he discovered that dispite the guage reading 1/4 tank, the fuel tank was empty.  Five gallons of gas and the car was running like it should.  A Homer Simpson moment.  Did I ever feel foolish.

Total damages?  One crank position sensor, six spark plugs and only two and a half hours of labor.  He spent at least double that.

I owe Double J a deep debt of gratitude, and can highly recommend them to everyone reading this guest book.

great work

I have brought my MKII rally car to DJM for prep before my last two races and am extremely happy with the engine setups and suggestions they have provided.  My car is a frankendub that most shops I take it to cannot understand or communicate intelligently with me about the mods and mix of parts on it, Joey is the most experienced and knowledgeable hands I have had on it since it was built. The new shop is also fantastic.  I would recommend them to anyone!

THE BEST IN THE NW
The is the best shop I have ever dealt with. They are so courteous and knowledgeable is amazing. I have used Joey for many years now and he still amazes me with his good heart and great skills with the VW's.
